Life is an Emotional Rollar Coaster, but It's Worth the Ride!

Well, it's been another one of those up and down kind of weeks. Not up and down as in bad and good, but rather the emotions that situations bring about. I spent the day at the hospital on Wednesday for the annual SIDS seminar. SIDS is Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Basically, babies just die and no one really knows why. Reasearch has showed, these babies' hearts just slow down and stop. It's quite terrifying if you think about it. Can you imagine coming to wake up your perfectly healthy baby and find it dead. Research has shown some small things that make huge differences in SIDS. By placing babies on their back to sleep it reduces SIDS risk by like 50-70 percent. The other huge factor is a smoking mother before birth and then smoking around the child (even 2nd hand smoke) after the birth. The seminar always reminds me there are hurting people all over the place, we just have to pay attention and care.

Today, Thursday, I spent two hours as my alter ego, Zoots the Clown, twisting balloon animals with another fellow clown at one of the local Head Starts. It was a blast! Lots of kids and their families lined up for a balloon. I made more than one balloon flower for a mom after her kids got one. Simple things bring a smile and open the lines of conversation.

To round out my week, I'm planning on a motorcylce trip on Saturday with my brother and an old friend up to the Wichita Moutains (okay, they're really hills - but I live in Texas!) Hope your week's been a great one!
